01 - Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.
02 - Wash, core each apple leaving the base intact to form a cavity for filling.
03 - In a small bowl, thoroughly mix maple syrup, chopped nuts, dried fruit, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
04 - Arrange apples in a baking dish and fill each cavity evenly with the prepared mixture.
05 - Top each filled apple with several small cubes of butter to enhance richness.
06 - Pour 120 ml of water into the base of the baking dish to prevent sticking and promote even cooking.
07 - Bake for 35 minutes until the apples are tender yet retain their shape.
08 - Serve warm, optionally garnished with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt.
