02 - Fluff quinoa with a fork, stir in almond milk, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Simmer on low for 2 to 3 minutes until creamy and heated through.
03 - Stir in diced pear and maple syrup or honey. Warm for 1 to 2 minutes until pear softens slightly but remains fresh.

05 - Serve warm, adding extra almond milk or sweetener as preferred.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It comes together in under 25 minutes and tastes like you spent hours on it.
  • The warm spices make your whole kitchen smell incredible while you cook.
  • You can eat it warm or let it sit overnight in the fridge for a completely different texture.
02 -
  • Don't skip rinsing the quinoa—that bitter coating is real, and rinsing actually changes the whole flavor of your bowl.
  • Add the almond milk after the quinoa is fully cooked, not before; cooking them together makes the grains stick together instead of staying fluffy.
  • The pear should go in at the very end—if you add it too early, it'll break down into mush instead of staying as little sweet pieces.
03 -
  • Toast your nuts in a dry pan for 2 to 3 minutes before adding them—it wakes up their flavor and makes the whole bowl taste more intentional.
  • Use a really ripe pear; underripe pears taste starchy and won't dissolve slightly into the warm grain the way they should.
